Dim command in Autocad shows that we are in a mode dimensions.
Inside Dimension mode, we can use a special set of dimension command instead of the main dimensions of the order. To exit this mode press the ESC key dimensions.
Inside AutoCAD automatically applies a horizontal or vertical dimension according to the origin of the line extensions that we set or location where we select an object;
However, we can replace it as we create a dimension with a set that dimension to a horizontal or vertical.

To create a horizontal or vertical dimension
From the Dimension menu, choose Linear.
Press ENTER to select objects to the dimensions
Before determining the location of the line dimension, we can change the direction of the dimensions and text editing, text angle, or angle the line dimensions:
To , enter the m> multiline text.
In the Multiline Text Editor, revised the text and select OK.
We can add text before or after the text in parentheses after the value dimensions.
